It has been 52 weeks- or 365 days- or 8,670 hours- or however many seconds fit into a calendar year- since the first day of operations as HLC Therapy Group, LLC.
In these weeks, days, hours and seconds, the trials and tribulations of opening a new therapy practice (and closing an old one), particularly under the weighted- blanket of the Covid pandemic, have felt impossibly heavy at times. There have been grueling decisions to be made followed by sleepless nights of analyzing and second-guessing. There have been moments of graceless blunderings that left me wishing this was all a dress-rehearsal. There have been programs put into place and collaborative opportunities pursued that have not panned out as anticipated.
As I reflect on year one of HLC, there are two realms for which I am full of gratitude.
First, I am grateful for every challenge faced this year. Each adversity, complexity, affliction or plain situational awkwardness, served as a reminder to recalibrate and refocus on the core values that inspired HLC to be: Hope, Laughter, Connection. It is all too easy to get off course from our values in the world we live in today, and it is these challenges that have grounded me.
Second, I am full of gratitude for every therapist, employee, client, client-mom, client-dad, client-sibling, colleague, etc. who has given HLC the joy that makes it impossible to forget these core values. Thank you to each of you for being my daily reminder that our world is in fact full of hope, laughter and connection. Our clinic certainly is as well (which is so ever-apparent in the beautiful video Miss Kellie and Miss Courtney created here).
Cheers to a new year with this as HLC’s ultimate resolution:
More Hope.
More Laughter.
More Connection.
“...ultimately our greatest joy is when we seek to do good for others.” (The Book of Joy)
Wishing us all a 2022 full of joy.
